Nigeria does not need God-fearing leaders – Bishop Kukah

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, on Tuesday said tackling corruption and fixing Nigeria required more than a God-fearing leader. According to Daily Post, Kukah said this at the launch of a book titled “The Shadow List’’ written by Todd Moss. Nigerian Senate to clampdown on Bit-coin, ponzi scheme operators

The Senate of the federal republic of Nigeria has expressed great concern over the widespread usage of Bit-coin, a form of Crypto-currency and other ponzi schemes across the country. This was consequent upon a motion moved by Senator Benjamin Uwaiumogu (Imo North), who expressed concern that Nigerians were freely advised, and even persuaded to invest in crypto-currency as it promised quick returns, in certain instances, a triple or quadruple of the invested sum as profit within days. He noted that Google, quoted one (1) Bit coin to be the equivalent of N5, 706, 713.20 as at 10th December 2018. Ribadu breaks silence on Buhari’s anti-corruption war

The pioneer chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, on Tuesday, declared that the anti-corruption crusade of President Muhammadu Buhari is on course. According to Daily Post, Ribadu also said the issue of the reinstatement of former head of the Presidential Taskforce Team on Pension Reform, Abdulrasheed Maina, should not be used as a yardstick in judging the country’s anti-corruption crusade. Post-election violence corps members appeal for jobs

Ex-National  Youths Service Corps (NYSC) members that lost all their belongings, including certificates during the 2011 post-election violence in Niger State have appealed to the federal government to provide them automatic jobs given their plight. According to the Independent the victims spoke in an interview shortly after the sample presentation of N26.79 million cheques at the NYSC state headquarters in Minna. Spokesperson for the affected ex-corps members, Godspower Igbokwe who said though they are appreciative of the federal government’s magnanimity offering financial incentives to cushion the psychological pains they are going through, the fact remains that nobody would agree to give them job without their certificates. 16,353 Flights Delayed In Six Months – NCAA

Domestic airlines operating in Nigeria recorded 16,353 cases of delayed flights between January and June,2017. According the Independent, statistics from the Consumer Protection Department of Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) have revealed. A document issued by the department shows that 30,100 flights were operated by eight airlines during the period under review. According to the document, 601 flights were cancelled for various reasons by the airlines. Airlines in operation were Aero Contractors, Arik Air, Air Peace, Azman Air, Dana Air, First Nation, Med-View and Overland. Arik, which operated 10,261 flights, topped the chart of delayed and cancelled flights with 5,780 and 156 respectively. Aero Contractors followed with 2,895 delayed flights and 231 cancellations out of its 4,714 flight operations, the department reported. Bishop Ademola Moradeyo, Bishop of Methodist Church Nigeria, Diocese of Ogbomoso, has appealed to Federal Government to complete the dualisation of Ogbomosho-Ilorin Road lamenting that the road has claimed many lives. According to the Independent, Bishop Moradeyo warned that the church would shut Ogbomoso/Oyo dual carriage road down on August 1, 2018 if the Federal Government fails to complete the road project. Speaking at the funeral of Mr. Johnson Abiodun Fawole, one of the three Secondary School Principals who died in a ghastly motor accident along the old Ogbomoso/Oyo Road last Wednesday, the Bishop lamented the incessant loss of citizens of Ogbomoso land on the road. Tiv people deny killing 73 cows in Nasarawa Mdzough u Tiv, the apex socio-cultural group of Tiv people has denied report that a purported Tiv militia attacked and killed 73 cows in Kadarko, Nasarawa State. The group also frowned at the report that two persons were also missing as a result of the attacks.
